Today we had something different at work - an external speaker. Apparently, hosting a series of external speakers is one of the things Intel is trying to do to improve morale. (Although it's hard to top free sodas.)

We make people get a license to drive a car but anyone can make a PowerPoint presentation.

So easy to use. So hard to use well.

God, that sounds like corporate Hell. I'd be committing Hari Kari with my company-issued pen halfway through.

Despite my criticisms above, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It was humorous, and I laughed. Yeah, it was kind of hokey, but it sure beat working for a hour.

In keeping with his nerdy persona, and given the fact that he was presenting to an engineering company, he greated each person as they walked into the room with a pocket protector. So you could keep your company-issued pen in there!

I just hate those kinds of hokey events in general. It makes me long to be able...to do work!
