Error 404 was rejected by Weird Tales. I'm going to go through it, read / review it, play with it a bit until I feel it's a stronger story, and I'm going to submit it to Cemetary Dance. Admittedly, that's going to be a longer wait, but it's a second stop on the train as it were

A rejection does not necessarily mean that the story needs rewriting.
These days, I don't chat about my rejection slips much, but just so you know, with the exception of "End of Time," which happened to be the precisely correct story for Desolate Places, all of my recently published stories were rejected at least once before getting accepted -- and I haven't revised any of them.
It took me a long time to get past that "Auugh! It's been rejected! It must be awful! I must rewrite!" feeling. Thing is, Weird Tales is an incredibly competitive market, which means that they reject incredibly good stories all the time (along with a lot of crap.) But I found that once I started ignoring that "rewrite feeling," and instead responded to rejections by resubmitting the story immediately, I got published more.
