Love Big: A Reflection

Several of you know, I spent a week on a "Mission Trip" with 21 youth and five other adults doing volunteer work for three organizations: Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org), New Reach (www.newreach.org), And CCA (ccahelps.org). All three organizations help provide housing for those in need, many for women in crisis, along with their children.

There's so much beauty and strength in even the smallest details from your trip. I keep thinking about your jelly doughnut and how you felt guilty while eating it. I keep thinking about the little girl watching from the window. Thank you for sharing this, it was beautiful!

The teens handling things tenderly- that word tenderly just got me! I like the idea of using this in the first weeks with my young writers, life is so in the moment for them that we struggle with looking back. I think we'll do this every day the first week and then use what we list to write about the beginning of school. Thanks!
