Love Big: A Reflection

Aug 03, 2015 07:09

Several of you know, I spent a week on a "Mission Trip" with 21 youth and five other adults doing volunteer work for three organizations: Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org), New Reach (www.newreach.org), And CCA (ccahelps.org). Thank you for allowing us to look into your mission trip. Thank you for allowing us to see how important this was to everyone involved, not just those you were serving. This is a great reflective activity to use at the end of your week as well as with students.

I like the idea of a list because a reflective list is very doable. As I pack my car tonight to temporarily move to the new city I will be teaching in, I have so much going through my mind. I will set a time aside to being reflecting with lists.
Thanks for sharing the special moments on your trip. You took me with you.
Jo, I hadn't thanked you for all you do for TW. I enjoyed becoming a part of the family!
Take care!

Meaningful reflection anonymous August 3 2015, 23:23:21 UTC
What a great way to start the year. I can imagine completing little snapshots like this throughout the year and then sharing them with students in the end. Meaningful reflection can get lost when we are flying through curriculum or buried by essays, so maybe planning an exercise like this for some downtime will help students (and me too) see the value in everything we miss when we're go-go-going.

I'm left thinking about Ferris Bueller's quote: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss something."

Thanks for the reminder to slow down and look around.
