I am only one person
But I can
Listen
Reflect
Learn
Love

I am only one person
Walking with
Respect
Admiration
Compassion
And love
Among many

I am only one person.

Love the spareness here, and the words, and the intent.

I am only one person,
But I can use my hands to hold.
I am only one person,
But I can use my arms to embrace.
I am only one person,
But I can use my eyes to seek clarity.
I am only one person,
But I can use my ears to listen and gain understanding.
I am only one person,
But I can use my voice to speak words of peace.
I am only one person,
But I can use my heart to love, and love, and love.
I am only one person,
But I can make a difference.

I was thinking about the shape/placement of words on the lines, when I did today's warm up. I need to spend more time developing the ideas here, but I couldnt wait to share.

I consider myself more of a reader than a writer (although Im here!) And i am constantly thinkung about the reader-writer relationship and skill set. We usually read left to right on each line, but what how can meaning change if we change the direction a poem is read?

I took a picture of my poem, and in case it didnt attach, here is the link: https://goo.gl/photos/PJKy6rcUGUjWCBJ18

You can read this left to right down stanza 1 and then the same down stanza 2, or you can read straight across each line.
