Take 2 on a somewhat haphazard update on what's going on in my life these days; I've not posted in too long again, and it's been even longer since I made a public post. ( Read more... )
I found that the snow cone maker actually did a good job with my ice cream habit. Especially the first year, ice cream actually got to the point that it was a little too thick, just like water did to my soda habit. The other positive thing is that as long as you don't overdo the syrup, snow cones actually rehydrate, where ice cream doesn't.
And thus speaketh the eeedge for FAR too long on the subject.
I know I'm buying fewer games. (Not none though, I should have quite a stack whenever I get tired of FFXI, but they'll be the ones I'm sure I will like a lot.)
Crock-pots are handy for when you suspect you'll have more time to make dinner late at night than you after getting home.
I always plug mine into a 12-hr timer so that if something keeps anyone from getting home it won't run forever....they're UL listed and supposed to shut down if they run too long, dry out the food, and overheat, but why take chances.
Okay, it's not *really* a 12-hr timer, it's a regular lamp timer with only a single "OFF" tab in it, but it does the job.
I don't think I've played a computer or console game since living in B'burg. Sigh. Where does the time go?
This is a "semi-smart" one, with high, low, and hold-warm. It automatically kicks down to hold-warm after the time you specify. That said, on the chance that I'm stuck at work more than a few hours late, putting it on a hard timer seems prudent.
So, in my case, I'm more afraid of another minor earthquake keeping us at work. After the last one, they sent everyone home, so we got home early. But we've heard since then through AOV-contacts that the State Patrol was annoyed at Boeing letting that many people out before the bridges had been checked; next time they're supposed to keep everyone on-site for considerably longer. And they'll probably close most of the bridges, anyhow.
