One of my neighbours (Sarah) has just told me how she forgot to go on her Geology field trip to Arran. She thought they were leaving tomorrow and they were actually leaving today. Oops :s There are three trips, there's no space left on the second one and she's supposed to be in Sweden during the third

I hope she does get a swap otherwise I would advise missing sweeden as whilst the trip is not technically examinable, you do learn more in that week than in the preceeding year

poor girl though, and you would have thought someone would have called her saying "btw, your geology trip is leaving now". Silly earth sciences department

I suppose that even if they had phoned her she wouldn't have been able to make it to the bus.

Would it be possible for her to get a train to Ardrossan tomorrow? It would be expensive but easily possible to get there in time for the last ferry (6pm). Then she'd only miss the tour of the Ayrshire coast on Friday, which would be much better than missing the whole week. I agree with Alex, that week on Arran was incredibly helpful for actually learning the first year Geology course. Everything's a bit out of context without seeing these things in the field.
