Movies and TV stuff

I promised myself that I was going to try and talk about something other then Smallville here, because I'd rather not have my LJ dry up and fade away.  But truth be told, I can't think of much to talk about.  So, I decided to try the movies and television ( Read more... )

I couldn't make it past ep 2 of The Killing, despite the excellent acting.

I thought we had to wait until fall for Falling Skies - that's good news! Which network is it on? Beeman needs to bring Tom or Michael in for a guest role!

I'm really sticking with The Killing because I just want to find out who did it. But aside from the ep that aired 2 sundays ago, I'd be hard pressed to say that I have enjoyed the eps.

I believe Falling Skies is on TNT here in the states. I hope they show it in Canada. And not only would I LOVE for Tom to work with Beeman again, I would completely and utterly LOVE for Tom and Sarah Carter to be reunited on screen. From what I hear, everyone thinks there is going to be a S2, so my fingers are crossed for Tom and Michael.

Fast Five is exactly what that movie should be. Over-the-top, action packed, corny dialogue and lots of macho posturing. I loved it!

It was my first "Fast and Furious" film and I enjoyed it. I'm not sure it makes me want to go back and watch the other ones, but it worked on the levels it was supposed to work on. Hot cars, hot guys, hot action.

I know a lot of people loved Thor, but I was a bit bored. The actor that made the biggest impression on me was the one that played Loki. Chris Helmsworth is very attractive, but he just didn't do it for me. But Natalie Portman has never been more charming.

I liked the film alot. Didn't love it--there wasn't enough action for my tastes--but I did like the cast. And of course seeing Idris Elba in a film even obscured by a helmet is always fine by me.

Priest was awful.

Oh my word, this film should've been killed with Osama Bin Laden. Horrible, wretched, waste of time and piece of garbage. It didn't deserve to be released at all.

And that Cam Giganet (?) person is a terrible actor. ( ... )

You should at least see Fast & Furious 4, because it really does go hand-in-hand with this film, and better explains the surprise ending of Fast Five. And its the same sort of entertainment factor.

I was disappointed that Idris Elba didn't look like Idris Elba to me in Thor. Too many SFX. I prefer to watch him in Takers, because it looks gorgeous, and his Ho-Yay chemistry with Paul Walker was just as good as Vin Diesel's. What is it with that Mr Walker?

Fassbender is spellbinding. He really is. Intense and charismatic. That scene you mentioned is one of my favorite from the film. The other one is when Charles helps him harness his powers.

Advanced reviews of Falling Skies has been mostly positive. What worries me is Noah Wyle as the lead, because he's sort of boring. He's going to have to be good, and the supporting cast is going to have to pick up the slack.

I thought it was very, very well done. As long as you go into it realizing its not jam-packed with action, and there's a lot of character development, I think you'll be really pleased.

After watching Xmen, Thor wasn't as good as I originally thought, but given that I went in with low expectations, I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Buff, blond and beefy ain't my type, but Chris Helmsworth really sold his character with a bit of blue-eyed charm and some pretty good physical comedy. And Tom Hiddleston did a good job as Loki (I can't believe he tried out for Thor initially!).

X-Men: First Class has been the stand-out summer movie so far tho. Definitely up there with the first X-Men movie. The writing was coherent, the acting was pretty darn good, and the chemistry among the cast (the HoYay! was off the charts between Prof X and Magneto) excellent. Michael Fassbender stole the show, but I liked that almost every character among the large cast got some kind of development and screen-time (especially Beast and Mystique). Plus the surprise!cameos were *hilarious*.

I feel like such an anomaly when it comes to Thor. So many people loved it. And I didn't dislike it either. It was well done. But I just didn't feel any sort of emotional connection to it at all. And it wasn't as much fun as, say, Fast Five, so that you could just go with it. And honestly, a lot of the off world stuff confused me.

Tom Hiddleston tried out for Thor? Ummm, not sure how that would've worked.

After XM:FC, I think I'd go to see a film just because Michael Fassbender is in it. I thought he was that good.

LOVED the surprise cameos. And the clothes! I loved Emma Frost's wardrobe so much.

The only movie of the above that I've seen is Bridesmaids. Enjoyed it. I was trying to convince a couple at the yogurt shop afterwards to see it instead of Thor and that is just between you and me, I don't want my Idris to know about that. Let's keep that one stuffed in my briefs.

I like the photography in Bridesmaids. Right away you knew that this was not a Heigel or Hudson or Anniston Rom Com. You could see the lines on the actresses' faces, there was no vaseline on the lenses or CGI-ing a flawless complexion on any of them. Of course, they are actresses, but THAT was close to Real Life and showed them willing to give themselves to the movie---not stripping the movie to take it all for themselves like a Greedy TRio that I might have mentioned earlier.

Game of Thrones is Good Trash TV. I recommend it to all. Jason Momoa is hot and Nekkid. And there are other Nekkid people which is OK, I guess. And there are Swords and much Sword Play ( ... )

Idris will never hear it from me. ;)

Its funny what you said about Bridesmaids, because one of the things my sister and I liked so much about the movie was that the actresses looked like real people. Including Rose Byrne, who was playing "the pretty, rich one". Melissa McCarthy wears almost no make-up throughout, ditto Maya Rudolph. The films male heartthrob is a pretty regular looking guy.

Jason Momoa should be naked in every episode of Game of Thrones. It would make me love it more.

Uh-oh, I hope Falling Skies doesn't let you down now. I'm feeling the pressure.
