Wow, its been a long time. Sadly, I don't have much to say these days. I guess all I had to talk about was Smallville, and I don't have that much more to say about that

I miss Smallville so much. But when I think about missing it, I almost always think of first 4-5 seasons. It makes me so sad to think of what could have been. When I get in a pissy mood, I feel like TPTB/the WB used us, the loyal viewers, as a cash cow and didn't put any earnest effort into the final years. I want to believe Tom stayed to fight the good fight and hoped that he could give us a product we'd be happy with. He was right a few times at least

I don't miss what SV had become, but I miss Tom like crazy! The show itself had just become too damned frustrating for me.
I really and truly believe that Tom could be as employed as he wants to be. I don't believe for one second that some movie, or TV show wouldn't snatch him up in a second if he pursued it agressively. I think him not working is totally his choice, which is frustrating. Well, it would be frustrating either way.
I don't usually go to the beach so much in the summer because I have too many other things to do on the weekends. But this year, I'm trying to make the time. Looks like I'll miss it this weekend though, between weather and other plans.
Where are puppy pictures? I want to see the new fuzz baby.
I think this heatwave is due to break in the next few days, and temps will be back to regular summer temps.
I was at Comic Con the last 2 years, so I got to see Tom both times he showed up. I feel incredibly lucky. That first time was such a huge shock for everyone.
Its never too late! Hey, with the way I've been going lately, this may be my only entry for a month. I can't seem to find much to discuss these days.
Its amazing to me just how different SV 1-5 is to S 6-10. I'm not sure I even know how to put it into words. But the latter seasons just don't resonate with me the way the earlier ones do. And thats not to say that I don't love a lot of the more Supermanly stuff Clark did later on, because I did. I don't know, maybe I was just very enamoured of the earlier concept for the show, and as the show went on, I think it sort of floundered on what it was. A Superman show, or a pre-Superman show.
Its very hard for me to get hooked into TV shows. That wasn't always the case, as I was a TV junkie growing up. But now? I have no patience, and there are so few actors that capture my attention.
Like Tom :(
The case in Montreal sounds nuts. What was the reasoning behind the verdict? I'm still enraged over the Casey Anthony thing, but all I can do is try to believe in karma.

(6) I didn't like that Clark started the series with two good friends, but ended it without a single one. (I'm not counting Lois.) His entire life's happiness seemed to be wrapped up in a romantic relationship that the show never really sold me on, and that was a big downer for me. That's one of the reasons I wished they would've found a way to keep Jimmy or Kara or someone around, because I think Clark, as the show's protagonist, needed to have at least one platonic, deeply devoted, totally together, absolutely trustworthy friend in his life. How else am I supposed to believe he's complete in the end

6. One thing I always told myself re: Clark and friends is that in the near future, he's going to have 2 great friends named Bruce and Diana. And they are going to have his back (and his theirs) in a way that Clark deserves. Clark had friends who were sometimes very, very good friends to him (like Chloe was in earlier seasons). But his best and truest friends were still to come when SV ended

(6) Good point about Bruce and Diana. Also, for as upset as some viewers were to never have the two characters on the show, I wasn't. Can you just imagine what the PTB would have done with them? Ugh. (Also, like you, I choose to believe that Clark has very little to do with Chloe and Oliver after the show

6. Me either. If Bruce and Diana had been on the show, how much you want to bet their stories would've been more about Chloe, or Lois, or Oliver, or anyone but Clark.
I find everything you said about Martha very much echoes my own feelings about the character. As much as I believe that she loved Jonathan beyond reason, and the same for Clark, I'm not sure I believe that Martha was satisfied with her life, or completely comfortable in it. I do think her exit made it almost seem like she was anxious to get away from the farm, and maybe even Clark. I agree with you that she and Clark seemed almost estranged. When she came back, as good as some of the Clark/Martha scenes were, it still felt like 2 people who had a distance in their relationship. And the whole way she berated him in the finale, basically talking some major bullshit, really put an exclamation point at the end of the Martha sentence for me.
No apologies for being long winded. I'm just sorry that LJ issues kept me from responding to this earlier.
