I still love Ryo/Shige, and I hope people still write it. It has a fascinating dynamic. ♥

i don't like when color code is used in the fics... like in arashi, when sho speaks, then the font is red, and so on...
it hurts eyes, esp when those color doesn't match the layout background

It's a pretty bad sign if the author has to color code to keep who's saying what straight. It's helpful sometimes with subtitles but with fic you should be able to make it obvious without resorting to that.

Overall, using weird colors (i.e. any other than the journal's normal text color) makes shivers run down my spine. Not only in dialogue but also in the whole text. Unfortunately I've seen that too.

No matter if the writer is actually good or bad at writing, as soon as I see colored text I just close the tab without another glance. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be a beginner (duh, everyone's beginner sometimes.) bur it's just that colored text in a fic makes the writer look like a beginner in a bad way. I guess you know what I mean with that?

My point is that colored text is so annoying that I don't even try reading colored fics.

This would be a weird question but has anyone ever read fic because of the language? I've read bunch of fics that were so-so but the authors used good language/interesting dialogues so I read them all the way

yes and no? haha...

I love love love well-crafted language, love literature where the author is obviously a wordsmith rather than a storyteller, but it's really difficult in (my) fandom(s) to find authors who are good enough with language to do this. plus when the author is that skilled with language, then chances are high that the other aspects of the story are good as well. (I'm not picky about pairings, therefore am not picky about what I read in that sense.)

i think there's a lot of fic where the language and technique is good, but the story is still emotionally lacking somehow. i'd rather read a warm fic with language problems than a cold fic with perfect technique.

I'd say yes. I like very stripped down, bare language. If I run across an author who writes that way I tend to lose a day or two devouring everything in their archive no matter what the fandom. At the same time, one of the only authors who writes my OTP has this annoying tendency to try to be poetic with her language :( Sometimes she pulls it off, but usually it just feels laboured and obvious.

maybe you'll think i'm weird.. but i HATE when people post their fic in community in non-default font and color: with HUGE fonts or colors, or font that is too small or they don't tagged their post properly, spam the community page and my fpage by posting more than once a day, linking to a locked post.

i mean.. this is a community, not their own journal... /sigh

This isn't weird but actually a fairly standard pet peeve. You're not alone ♥

Meme, shall we have character discussions over here? For all the talks about OOC characterization, I really would like to see more in-depth arguments, if any.

i hate when some of the boys are turned into very feminine, weak archetypes due to their size, completely disregarding their personalities. common victims of this are nino, kame, tegoshi, and ueda.

mm, personally i think that while as amusing as character cliches are ( Jin is an idiot, Shige is a nerd, Ryo is mean, Sho is perfect, Ueda is a girl etc), i wish more people would take it a step further and try to mix these preconcieved notions with something more out of the box ideas

i cannot stand people who make aiba or kame (and the other lot) characters turn into crying wusses.
