Got to ride another of the new lesson horses at the stable last night..."Cash". Cash (real name World Messenger?) is 24 years old and is a past equitation champion I'm told. Did the Toys for Tots Poker Run 5K last night. Good weather but I took it pretty easy. Walked the uphills and jogged the downhills. Finished in 37:35. I had a lot to do so I didn’t hang around for snacks or door prizes afterwards.

Had a nice ride on a newish horse this week-“Easy”. She’s a 6 year old that was recently gifted/donated to my instructor when the owner lost interest in riding after the death of their spouse. She’s a gaited horse but lost about a year of training due to a foot injury. I don’t often ride gaited horses and she was a little bouncy but she responded ( Read more... )

Trooped the Evansville Children's Museum yesterday (seems they have us at least a couple of times a year) for their now annual "comic con" for the kids. They have a couple of vendors, geeky themed stations (in addition to their regular exhibits), a kid's costume contest and costuming groups to give the place that "con feel". Did the usual 4 mile road race while I was in Metropolis for the annual Superman Celebration. Was even more horribly hot than usual and I wilted after the first 2 miles. Had the whole weekend to go up to Metropolis and enjoy their annual Superman Celebration. Once again the wife was working so I was flying solo. This year the festival seems to be in a transition.
