Yay! I have been eagerly anticipating an update to this story :D

I'm surprised in a good way that Leia is being pulled in so soon. I wasn't sure if/when we'd see her, but between Anakin's fascination with her and Kenobi's trip to Alderaan, I assume she will quickly become part of the fray.

I really enjoyed Obi-Wan's thoughts on Anakin's fall and how it relates to Luke.

There were so many parts in this chapter that just absolutely tugged at the heartstrings. I love the growing bond between Anakin and Vader.

"Don't worry. I'm not looking for another apprentice."

I wonder how painful it will be for everyone if/when Vader has to eat those words. I'm also very eager to see how the burgeoning relationship with Anakin will prepare Vader for fatherhood. And I'm filled with evil glee at the idea that perhaps it will be Anakin, not Vader who discovers Luke (and his true identity) first and I can't help wondering how exactly that would play out.

And Luke. Oh, Luke, how I love you.

"No, that's the hard part," he said, dropping his ( ... )

Thanks for your always generous reviews!

Just like in your stories, pretty soon everything's going to be one big ol' tangled knot.

I think it speaks so elegantly to the character of Owen Lars

Yeah, I never bought into that popular fanon idea that Owen was abusive. Protective and concerned, yes.

It's lovely to see Anakin coming into his own, embracing the traits that the readers know are there

In deciding the nature vs nurture thing, I believe Anakin would have a strong mechanical aptitude, but he's never been allowed to play with the toys Vader thinks he would have.

Ohh, you can just see the train wreck coming: either Anakin or Vader or both find Luke in their sweep and one or both rushes to find him (OMG - a great natural mechanic like Luke wouldn't end up on the Death Star would he?) and from the other end Obi Wan doing everything he can to find him. Is it too much to hope that he ends up hiring a scruffy nerfherder & a wookie to get to Luke?

And that's not even mentioning the seeming crush Anakin is developing on Leia. Or the fact that if Vader can start to feel fatherly towards Anakin, how off the charts would he feel towards Luke or Leia?

This is going to be a fantastic explosion of personality and insight - not to mention stuff actually blowing up - I've seen in a while.

Yeah, it's gonna be like a four-way intersection without any stop signs...

I really, really wanted that to happen, but then I looked in the chronology and saw that Han doesn't even own the Millennium Falcon for another couple of years. Besides, if he meets Leia now, she'll be jail-bait:)

I finally got a handle on Obi-Wan after writing That Which Remains. I'm really enjoying exploring that angst he keeps hidden under his smooth exterior.

Glad you're still reading!

Mein Gott!! you've turned up the WOW-factor on this story!!

Luke in the imperial army, the clone has spied out Leia - will she become the inappropriate object of the clone's affections?? Obi Wan off to rescue Luke from the Imperial Navy (where he may not want to be rescued ...

"
If he was going to be at the Senate Rotunda, this was the location Darth Vader preferred. Standing far outside its walls.
"

"
.....a face familiar to him finally came across the screen. "Mon Mothma," he said absently.

"Now there's one we should off right away," Anakin said.

He was aware of Mothma's suspicious activities, but killing her hadn't been at the top of his to-do list.
"

Wonderful stuff!

"
He shook his head at the irony: now that his master was gone, he was even more a prisoner.
"

The tragedy of Vader's life.

Please update soon, I can't stand the suspense!

Forgot to add that Tarkin is a fave baddie of mine so good to see that he will be part of the action.

Yeah, people tend to forget that Tarkin had as much pull as Vader in many areas of the Empire, and probably far more ambition.

Yeah, part of what made me decide to continue the story instead of leaving the first chapter as a stand-alone was the absolute collision of characters that would occur if things just followed the logical progression.

Glad you're enjoying it!

"Oh, but you can," Obi-Wan said in a honeyed voice, gliding closer to the desk. The man had no idea how small an obstacle he presented. From within the bell of Obi-Wan's sleeve, two fingers swept an arc. "You can tell me about Luke Skywalker."

Evil Jedi mind-tricking. Creepy.

So.. is Anakin officially Vader's apprentice?

I always thought that it was Owen that held Obi-Wan back from training Luke...

Ah yes, the other thing he had been continually at sixteen besides hungry. He leaned his head towards Anakin. "She is a distraction."

LOLOL! It's like 137 kinds of disturbing Anakin having the hots for his original's daughter.

Well, yes, in as formal a capacity as Vader ever does things, meaning he hasn't really thought through the ramifications of giving Anakin that title.

I'm sure Owen was an obstacle, but Yoda gave the directive to wait in the ROTS novelization, when he and Obi-Wan were discussing the herectical notion that the twins would not be raised in traditional Jedi fashion :)

What's Star Wars without a little mistaken identity? *grin*

Ah, that explains it. I wasn't the biggest fan of Stover's novel :D
