My sincere apologies for only managing to catch up with this wonderful fic now. This is the only decent Luke/Vader et al fic to be found anywhere just now! : )

You've weaved a fascinating study of the characters and their interactions on so many levels. It is a wonderful emotional journey for the reader!

I do love this. I feel just a tad sorry for Little Anakin and Leia though...

Oh, how delicious to see Obi Wan seduce Palpatine's Anakin just as smoothly as Palps seduced Obi Wan's. And Vader is too busy to see because he's being led around by the nose by his son.

And why do I think it is either Anakin or Luke that figures out how to find Tarkin?

I'm already impatient for the next chapter.

I didn't consciously start out to mirror Palpatine's seduction, but as the scenes unfolded they certainly struck me that way. Happy to see it wasn't just me. I guess it means that in whatever incantation, Anakin is rather impressionable.

It is an enormous pleasure to read this story. Everything has its weight and falls into place, not a word could go missing without diminishment, and there is not a word too many.

The line,
"At the limits of his perception, dark rumblings moved through the Force, and dread gathered in the pit of his stomach,"
rang true psychologically. It would indeed seem that the fear to acknowledge his own limits that leads Vader to purge "weaknesses" from himself, which drives him further on.

(previously I left a comment on ff.net under the name "sethnakht", but I am pleased to have found your LJ instead.)

Thank you so much! I am a "cut-to-the-chase" type of person, so sometimes I wonder if my writing is a bit spare.

And Vader may have learned a few things as he's aged, but you're right, in the end he's still run by fear.

It's wonderful how you parallel this aspect in both Anakin and Vader. I'm extremely taken by the way you use echoing techniques: the echo is indeed quite similar to the original, and yet always different. Not that there is ever an original, something else you make clear with the Anakin portrayal. Moreover, these echo-effects are not limited to Vader and his clone, but become generational with the addition of Luke and Leia, and then temporal with the return of Obi-Wan. I write unclearly, but will be thinking about the structure and metaphors you have raised here for a long time (reflections, too)...

Eeeeeeee, an update! So much ♥ for this story!

All the interactions are just delicious. And I love how you take some classic Star Wars lines and infuse them here, quite believably. I love seeing Anakin struggle here, with Obi-Wan trying to "seduce him to the light side" - love it love it love it! I love Vader's awkwardness with Luke. And the political stuff at the end of this chapter is interesting too - did Corellia only care about itself in the Clone Wars or did you make that up? :) It sounds quite real, at any rate.

This story is so rich and complex. I look forward to reading your next chapter!

Yeah, I think Obi-Wan's seduction was my favorite part of the chapter, too. It's a dynamic that has so much energy.

As for Corellia, The New Essential Chronology says that just before the battle of Geonosis, Garm Bel Iblis closed the borders of the Corellian Sector and refused to become involved in the whole Republic/Separatists schism. Maybe it wasn't just the smuggler's life that gave Han his "every man for himself" outlook.

Indeed!

One would never guess that I own that book. I keep buying pretty Star Wars books like that and I look through them from time to time but never read them! For shame!
