He nudged a bottle with his boot, and wondered what Obi-Wan had mourned then. The loss of his beloved Order? The fall of the Republic? Or perhaps he had just felt sorry for himself being stranded in this isolated location. Whatever it had been, it had brought his old master a torment beyond the reach of meditation.

*kicks Anakin* He was mourning for you, idiot!

I love how the role reversal has gone so far as to make Luke "Vader" at least for a little bit. And Leia becoming a Jedi! Whee!

That's exactly what I told him! "It's you, you idiot!"

Some things big boys have to figure out for themselves...

So many beautiful transitions going on in this chapter.

Anakin finally shedding Vader's armor, which he couldn't before. Partially because he still needed to hide behind it, and partially as a test for Luke, I think. Ani really needed to know his son loved him. Armor and all. But he still can't believe Luke really does. When he does, then he can help rebuild the order.

And I love Luke getting a taste of being Vader. And it strengthening his need to get out of the military.

And finally Leia admitting she is a Skywalker - and that Han has rubbed off on her. Needing to get out of the Senate and into some adventure.

Can't wait for the entire family to get back together again, and start building a new kind of Jedi order.

Yeah, he really doesn't. He has a hard time believing anyone would accept his weaknesses. And so while everyone else is getting their act together, he's still got a ways to go.

This story just keeps getting better and better.

And Obi-Wan's garbage dump with all the whiskey bottles. He must have been very lonely, missing the Order and missing Anakin, not to mention that his last sight of him had been pretty gruesome...throw a big dose of guilt in there for his failure. I am glad though that Vader is also seeing that Obi-Wan did not lead a happily ever after life.

I wonder if Leia will end up going to her father to be taught. That would be painful for both but so good as they're more alike than they'd admit.

Luke and Vader need to be back together!

And the end part where Vader removes his mask to feel and breathe the night air was the best of all.

He has many pre-conceptions that are about to be altered...

Luke and Vader need to be back together!

Yes. When I began this story I didn't quite realize how long they'd be apart.

What was Obi-wan looking at?

When Anakin figures it out, he won't be able to believe it.

excavating Obi-wan.

I always relate to Tatooine as being like the American frontier. My folks have property in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, and there's an old homestead cabin up above them. A gully leads from the cabin to their pond, and when there's a good rain, we still find bottles and bits of plates and other discarded items and we play at being archaelogists :)

Yes, it was in SOTE that author Perry had Vader trying to use the Force to allow him to breathe without the suit.

And I love the direction you're going with Leia

Before this I don't think she ever questioned the role that was thrust upon her. Now she's getting to choose her way.
