OK, so, My laptop keeps overheating after a half hour on the net. Anyone have any idea how i can fix this without sending it back to the manufacturer??
you can also try putting it on top of something that will carry heat away. a hollow cardboard box might work for you. Jez uses her old wii box and it works really well.
Here's the thing ... my hubby says that laptops aren't really meant to work on laps because they don't vent the hot air properly that way.
So to solve that, you have to use it on a table or hard surface more (or get one of those breakfast in bed trays or something). Also, do you turn it off or just put it to sleep? I find that I usually just put mine to sleep and rarely shut it down completely and after a few weeks of that it tends to overheat very quickly. Shutting it down completely every few days helps.
If you don't find a way to fix it, the mother board will fry. That's what happened to my old one.

I actually always shut it off after use.

Hopefully the cooler thing will help so you can use it on the bed now and then. :)
