Dresden Files the TV show...

It's on Netflix streaming.

I wasn't sure I liked it the first time, and I'm still not sure I like it wholly because it's not enough like the novels, but hey...it's kinda fun.

Could they not have found a blue Beetle?

I enjoyed it as its own entity.

Paul Blackthorne was *way* too hot to play Harry, but he was still enjoyable to watch. Especially since he's English and he nailed the accent he was directed to use.

I also loved the reinterpretation of Bob.

Apparently, the woman who played Murphy was the only one who actually read the books when she got cast, and was kinda cranky that they'd changed her character so much.

As well she should have been.

And I'm enjoying it more now that I have disassociated it so much with the books.

I don't think Paul Blackthorne is that hot, so maybe I find him more acceptable. ;)

I've watched several episodes now and I have to say the Bianca/Harry thing freaks me out. But I enjoy that he has a blasting rod made of a drumstick and a staff made out of a hockey stick.

I tried to watch an ep before I ever saw the books, and was not impressed.

And oohyay, Ardian Syaf artwork.

I admit that to me it has the "B-movie" quality of most SciFi Channel shows. I think what disappoints me is that it could have/should have been better.

And yeah, Ardian rules. :)

Could they have found a Blue Beetle? Sure. But I think I've heard somewhere that they had to go with the old Army Jeep for some reason ... I can't remember if it was a continuity problem (that is, it's easier to keep shooting with a battered Jeep than it is a Beetle that is supposed to have mismatched parts) or if there was a product placement issue or if it was simply cheaper to get a Jeep than a Beatle. I'm pretty sure I heard about this on one of the video interviews, but now I'm going to have to track it down 'cos it's bugging me.

They couldn't cram Paul Blackthorne into a Beetle. As I understand it about the changes to Murph, there apparently IS a real Karrin Murphy on the CPD who is short and blond. They didn't want her to get stalked or anything so changed Murph to accomodate. The changes with Bob was budget. Easier to have an actor than special effects all the time.

And considering that Mr. Butcher had a hand in making the show, or at least casting etc, I have no problems with the show. I watched that first before reading the books. LOVE!

That's it! I knew there was some sort of practical reason for the change.

And Paul is the same height Harry is supposed to be so it always made me kind of wonder how Harry managed it before he had to gut the inside because of mold demons.

Hubby says that somewhere along the line he read that the producers of the show purposefully tried to avoid him using too much magic- to make the magic less of an aspect of the show.... Which I always thought was rather stupid. But they didn't really have faith that the viewers would like such a show. Ah well.

Well, no one's accused SciFi of being bright. Just occasionally lucky.
