I needed to hear this. Thank you. This was the first year I didn't use a credit card to buy Christmas. My kid is opening 2 presents that was on his wish list. That's all. And I've felt bad about that this whole month until I read this. Thank you.

It's funny...The reason I ended up writing about this was to help sort out what the hell I was feeling around the whole Christmas thing this year.

I don't have kids, but I still have the desire NOT to go into debt to buy presents for Christmas when it's supposed to be about family, not loot. And yet I still have the guilt about not buying enough, doing enough, etc.

I think what you're doing is awesome. It has potential to be a great lesson for your kids to know that life is about family and love and experiences and not money and material things. They probably already know that though.
