You touched on a couple of the same observations I made--
1) Dean really needs to work on his counseling skills. :-)
2) (And I didn't articulate this, but reading your words made me think this might be what's impacting me and my reaction to the ep.) We really did see the whole The Road to Hell Is Paved with Good Intentions storyline before. Not just with Sam, but with Dean and his deal. So it does feel like it's old hat by now.
Also, this show is about almost nothing else but the hard decisions you have to make when you try to do the right thing
( ... )
I did read several episode reactions on the flist and although mostly people liked the episode there were many with a "meh" reaction to Castiels' story
( ... )
Oh I like your theory. It's very original and would make a good twist no one (accept for you of course) would see coming! *g* God seemed to like testing his angels, so this would truly be the ultimate test for Castiel. Though I'm not sure with all the things Cas already did WRONG that he would be passing this test. But than again, he's till ten times better than Raphael.
And I just hope that Dean isn't going to be all "forgive, forget" yadda yadda yadda. But he didn't forgive Sam that easily.... and now Cas almost betrayed him even more!! So, there shouldn't be an easy way of forgiving Cas. After all, Sam went to HELL as a "punishment" and Cas would be getting away punishment-free. That wouldn't be right. Not for our show.
I like to have crazy theories, I always hope the writers will really surprise and so come up with the wildest stories possible.
And see, I've a problem with Dean's reaction. I don't know how he came to give the same benefits to Cas as he did to Sam (ok, with Sam he tried harder but he was also not nice at all). I'm not sure how I will feel if he is more understanding/forgiving towards Cas then he was with Sam because I don't think he should forgive easily but somehow, if he does, it means he doesn't care as much...
I hope you are right, if Cas gets off easier it will be very wrong!

Okay, that's actually a good argument. If he does forgive Cas more easily it would be a sign he didn't care THAT much (which, personally I would LIKE) But then his whole speech about family and brothers would be all two-faces lies. *sigh* Oh well... I guess we will have to wait and see... and then deal with it afterwards!!
Only five more days! OMG!! I'm excited and nervous and gaaaaaaahhhh.
