Um... herd apparently joined?

In the words of the Kinks, I realize that I'm not the world's most masculine man, but I still did not wholly expect that there would be a time in my life where I would be picking out my favorite My Little Pony character ( Read more... )

my little pony, this is what it's like

Welcome to the herd!

I'd counter "not even that good" by pointing out that pretty much every element is at least technically proficient...there's little to no "bad" to distract you from the parts that do stand out as good (mainly the acting and music). The plots are definitely the weak spot, being fairly bog-standard kidvid fare, albeit with the occasional tweaks and rug-pulling. But the scripts range from decent to very good, and some of the actual delivery is brilliant.

Yeah, the vocal performances are good. Andrea Libman's turns as Fluttershy and Pinkie are pretty hilarious in an over-the-top Powerpuff Girls sorta way. And the visuals range from pretty okay to fzcking insane. You're sitting there teetering on the edge of diabetic coma and then they haul out a tiny mouse in a tiny mouse wheelchair and it pushes you right over.

If you think about it, Bubbles splits into Fluttershy and Pinkie, Buttercup into Dash and Applejack, Blossom into Twilight Sparkle and Rarity. :)

Fluttershy is HARDCORE.

There's no defence, but there certainly are coping mechanisms. The best, I might imagine, is to work through it and let it run its course as you seem to be presently. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Of course, if it turns out to be a terminal case, at least you're among good friends who understand.

And I certainly do look forward to reading more about young Skywriter.

Thanks for the well-wishes, but I'm still resistant to the idea. If you even see anything at all on this front, it'll be very short. I refuse to let myself get caught up in an extended storyline in a universe which I don't even own, and which -- let us not stress this point insufficiently -- IS BASED ON "MY LITTLE"-FRIGGIN-"PONY" TOYS.

Don't worry, there's much support for you out there. I'm sure there are even some bronies in your area.

And the guy who does the music is local! http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aUu06x_ULew/TdbMsw9tKqI/AAAAAAAAEtE/rNdc3cQwcQM/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg

Go to YouTube, search for user PensivePony. It's how I watched the series, since I don't get the Hub either.

Keep in mind that, unlike the typical "brony" (holy crud do I hate that word) for me this isn't much of a stretch. In the course of the past year, I have checked out not one but two Tinkerbell books and have watched the entirety of Fraggle Rock. But I'm nevertheless not quite sure how My Little Pony managed to find a foothold.

What relation does My Little Pony have to Fraggle Rock? >:|

The Tinkerbell thing I can see. But Muppets are in a class by themselves.

You know, children's television starring color-coded little people with easily-explainable personality types learning a succession of life lessons. Superficial similarity. Fraggle Rock is by far and away the superior program, and my fondness for it will persist long after this particular momentary fascination.
