Sorry for the late review everyone but alas personal problems that you don’t care about prevented me watching SGU at 9:00 PM. As a result this review might be shorter then normal.  Anyway here we go…

It’s been a long 4 months waiting for SGU. I’ve tried keeping busy watching past Stargate episodes and the ever demanding real life. But it’s not the ( Read more... )

I don't think the stone was fried. I think Rush strangled the Alien, therefore there was no mind to swap with.

I agree with you on the Cloe thing. I kept yelling at the TV for her to go back to her quarters. I would have brought any kind of weapon with me to investigate.

And I'm glad they finally introduced an alien species. Looks like things are getting more interesting. Especially with Wry and Rush conspiring. And I agree that Ming Na is perfect in this role.

Young lost connection with the alien long before Rush killed said alien

Thier is such a thing as inverstigating a strange occurence but everyone knows in unknown situation you have something to protect yourself with. Rush at least had a pipe.:P

Wray is getting mantipulated by Rush and is too blind to see what is in front of her. But then again I am a big Rush hater.

Hmm. I interpreted Young losing the connection as his twenty minutes being up, so the guys back on the Destiny pulled the plug. Then, he couldn't go back because the alien was dead or at least unconscious.

That would be quite a concidenc. And Young told them reconnect before Rush killed that alien. As soon as Young lost the connection Young tolf Dr. Caine to turn it and nothing happened leading it having to be something on the aliens end

I agree with you about 80% - a great episode, and what was Chloe thinking?? I may make my story of the week about this - some time in her past when she didn't take a peek and Something Bad Happened. Or something.

Unlike you, I really don't like Young; but I love how he's being played. I think he runs on instinct. Our guy is in a tank? I've got to break him out! Oops, maybe that will be bad for me down the road... never mind, let's blast him!

Not that Rush is great with consequences either.

Chloe was a victim of a plot device of someone needs to be captured. Which I am more then fine with but you could do it reasonably like the hole appear as she is walking down a corrider. Chloe runs and is captured by the aliens. I would have been fine with that

I don't think that was the reason. In the beginning it was clear to me that Young regretted stranding Rush so he let him free. When Rush mentioned the mind control thing Young saw it as a way to communicate. As for continue blasting an alien retreat makes reinforcements a possibility. Thats a bad idea from a military standpoint.

I actually think Rush is good with assessing consquences. Its why he is so good at mantipulating people

He's good at short-term stuff, but I think his plots unravel awfully fast. And his most recent got him stranded, which to me = a pretty bad plot.

Well people are so so diverese and unpredictible in their actions its hard to have a plan for long term mantipulation. Rush didn't expect Young to do what he did. It was quite unexpected on Young's part

I think clicking me on your user profile would have been faster. The 2 fans thing is a joke to stimulate my self-esteem on the work I put out for these things

That would mean I'd have to remember your LJ username. Sigh, I absorb details about people pretty easily, but not names or faces.

I agree with most of your review, although I was quite irritated that Chloe got stuck with the role of 'damsel in distress.' I was happy she got some screen time though. I like the point you make about how bizarre it was for her (or anyone) to approach that gaping hole in the ceiling during an alien attack, so it was either just convenient for the plot (which is clumsy writing) or they were trying to say something about Chloe's character? I dunno. I was happy she got to do something.

As a big Chloe fan even I was diappointed. I know as a character she is capable of such much more. We have seen glimmers of it in previous epsiode but she really needs a role then acting stupid for the plot. Some kind of role besides as you put it damsel in distress

Rush Character Redeemed?? squirrely4u April 4 2010, 01:15:27 UTC
IDK.... I liked how Rush was presented here. I think they have left Young look rather cowardly IMO. True he did try and break him out and bring him back to the Destiny but then he did fire with everything on the Alien ship full well knowing Chloe and Rush were on board. Even knowing that the shields were failing and they would likely fail to do any damage to the ship even bolstering all the weapons for one last blast toward the ship ( ... )

Well what the alternative> Let the aliens escape and call reinforcements to destroy the Destiny. Its sad but its a case of numbers. Chloe and Rush vs the Destiny. You have to chose the latter. Death is highly more likely if they had called reinforcements ( ... )

Yeah I don't think the writers necessarily want to purposefully "divide fandom" But as you said...just cause controversy amongst fans/viewers that is what I meant.

I am not going to wipe up my drool....that is the risk you take when you have a public space here and invite people in to make comments!! :P :P Besides it has dried up by now :P

Yeah I thought it was interesting that they showed James crying and then Chloe awake. Maybe it was the full ramifications of James realizing she has lost her connection to Scott. Even if he was just a "frak buddy" that is still a level of intimacy that she no longer has. And then too, maybe Chloe is feeling guilty about things? IDK.

The cause of creating controversay is to stimulate viewers to watch said show which in turn increases ratings.

Then your user name will be blocked. That or you clean this up:P

I think Chloe is in shock of the whole deal with the aliens. James is just really lonely. Scott is a factor in that lonelyiness
