Nino had always been of the opinion that gunblades were overrated. They were clumsy, too heavy and too awkward. He had chosen twin daggers as his weapons, curved and elegant and very, very lethal in the right hands. And Nino knew how to use them. When he put his mind into something, he practiced until he had mastered whatever it was. His GFs were all high level, his magic was junctioned the best way possible and his blades were sharper than anyone else's.
Still, it was the gunblade that was considered the coolest weapon available, probably because of the headmaster and his proficiency with it. But Nino had never seen anyone else to bring that level of elegance and precision into handling the weapon than their headmaster.
Until now.
Simply put, Ohno Satoshi was amazing.
While doing his usual practice run through the Training Center with Aiba, he had spotted the new transfer student there, fighting with a T-Rexaur, and Nino forgot all about his own training and just watched Ohno instead.
He saw how Ohno, his brow furrowed with concentration, sidestepped the monster's attack easily and then lunged forward, slicing at the huge beast.
He was just a SeeD candidate but he was fighting a T-Rexaur on his own and he was winning. That alone was cool enough for Nino to take notice, but why did the boy have to even look so damn good while doing it?
"Nino, Nino," Aiba said quietly, the barrel of his rifle resting casually against his shoulder while he watched Nino. "Your mouth is hanging open. Don't start drooling at him," he said, his voice soft and amused.
"Shut up. Were you watching?" Nino asked from Aiba, not able to look away from Ohno who swirled around, one hand in front of himself, casting a Thundara and immediately following the spell with a slash of his gunblade. "Did you see that?" Nino exclaimed. "Look at that precision!"
"Okay, sure, he's really pretty and also really good. Can we continue our training now?" Aiba said, making Nino roll his eyes.
"You just want to get to the secret area and make out."
"Yeah, that too, but I also need more experience and more spells," Aiba grinned. "I just got a new GF yesterday. Come on, Nino."
"Again?" Nino asked, allowing Aiba to drag him away from Ohno. "How many does that make now? Seven? Eight?"
"Nine, actually," Aiba muttered. Then he suddenly stopped in his tracks and grabbed Nino's wrist. "Hey! I spotted few Grats over there! I need more silence spells! Chaaarge!"

Balamb Garden was confusing, Ohno thought. Lots of things here made him wonder what was actually happening.
He wondered about how Sakurai had been able to trick him into joining the Garden Festival committee and how he suddenly had found himself actually in charge of something. (People kept calling him ‘Leader' for some reason.)
He wondered what it was that he was supposed to be in charge of. (He hadn't been paying attention to Sho when he had told him. It had probably been during their ‘Strategy and Leadership II' class.)
He wondered why he got so distracted about everything every time that boy called Ninomiya was around. (Nino sat in front of him during the ‘Strategy and Leadership II' class and Ohno couldn't remember anything about those lessons. Apart from that small mole in the base of Nino's neck, anyway.)
He wondered about the way his life had somehow gotten a lot louder. (Though he suspected it had something to do with having both Aiba and Jun around most of the time. They kind of came attached to Nino.)
He wondered how he could ask Nino not to take his arm away from around his shoulders without sounding suspicious or creepy.
He wondered about how Nino seemed to like touching him a lot.
He wondered if it was okay to ask a boy to come with him to the Garden Festival next week.
