It's been 3 nights since my "incident" with a speeding car. Right now I look like I have a lion mask on, My face is super swollen especially around my eyes. The lids, my left cheek and under my eyes are stretching my skin to transparency. Both of my eyes have been partially closed all day. Lars and I thought that I might be having an allergic ( Read more... )

hey jen, it's heather from swap meet/betalevel. i'm glad you're already doing things by yourself and on your way to recovery. i can't believe this happened, it's so frightening, but as you say, i am glad you had a witness and that an investigation is underway. take care & email if you need anything, i can pick stuff up for you if you need it.

Hi Heather,

We don't really need anything concrete if you and Jason want to drop in for a visit that would be great we could have dinner together here and be mellow. I could even have a glass or two of wine because I am only on Ibuprophen because I'm allergic to every other good drug.

I'm glad you're here Jen. That weekend was the most emotionally grueling ordeal I've been through. I breathed a sigh of relief when you called Sunday night. You are an inspiration for me to keep riding.

Hi Matt,

I'm glad it didn't freak you out of riding. I'm still curious how exactly I fell ie: foward, onto the car, what hit the car?, me, my bike? The detective is interested too. If you remember anything let me know as soon as you can. Thanks for being so quick to call the police and Lars.

the car came up behind you and kind of swept you off your bike. You kind of flipped and rolled off the corner of the car.

Best wishes for as much and as speedy a recovery as is possible for you! Not to mention, excellent use and function of your painkillers, an end to nasty swellings, and so on.

I admire you for dealing with this so well; crying when it hurts is just a reasonable response in my book. I collected a huge scrape when my foot locked in a clip in last Saturday's Moonlight Ramble ride - a minor injury comparitively. Still, I had to take 2 minutes on the sidewalk to cry before I could regain control - can't ride with eyes blinded by tears!

Get back on the bike when you can. You're totally right in that there is NO safety anywhere, and being at home won't keep a maniac from killing you. I dearly hope the police do find, and your AG prosecutes, the one that ran you down. If you have the chance to denounce him in a court of law, so much the better!

Thanks. I cried plenty that night. Funny, I had just told a friend, Molly, while riding last week that I hadn't cried in a while. I guess I made up for that.

Any injury sucks in my book. A scraped foot can sure be painful. I hope it is feeling better.

Thanks so much Stella. It's nice to hear from you. I hope that you and Seth are enjoying your new life. How is it to be back in school again. I think it might be cool. I concider it sometimes myself.
