This is wonderfully quiet and melancholy and lovely all in one. I really enjoy origin stories to see the events that lead up to the text we're familiar with, and this is one of the best I've read for the movieverse.

Thank you - glad it pleased!

I've ignored a good bit of what we're given in canon, as far as their early days together, but I figured - why not? Movieverse is fair game for a bit of tinkering, as far as I'm concerned ;)

Lovely! You have their voices down, and the sense of London in March is well-done.

Holmes' pain and sense of being overwhelmed by all the sensory overload was exquisitely-detailed. Watson is quite clever with his observations here.

The healing scene was peaceful and a nice cementing to the beginning of their friendship. :)

Thank you - that's very kind, and I'm delighted that you enjoyed it!

I think it's always interesting to speculate on how things might have started between them... one can only imagine that Watson must have needed a great deal of patience ;)

If I hadn't been in love with your writing before tonight, this would have made me swoon at your feet. But you have proven too many times that you have Holmes and Watson down perfectly so all I can do is repeat once again that I love this! I loved that scene at the restaurant and how they hinted at how much Holmes saw and felt. You have taken that and made it something too lovely for words. Thank you for this.

Oh, thank you! *is flattered* That's high praise, indeed - you are most welcome, dear and thanks so much for the kind words!

I was intrigued by that little scene in the movie as well, and thought it might be fun to extrapolate a bit - that kind of observational ability would have to be a very mixed blessing. Fortunately, Watson's astute enough to recognize a problem when he sees it ;)

Thanks again, and glad you enjoyed. <3

It's a wonderful and endearing portrayal of the simple, understated pain of disappointed hopes that occur everyday, a sad norm to adult life.

A beautiful read for a slow and lazy saturday morning.
