Someone made a secret that was posted at ontd_pinto about how they read all this bad fic and send it around to their buddies to have a good laugh. Guess who's fic was used an example of the so-bad-it's laughable writing

i can honestly and happily tell you that i have LOVED your fics, and read them over and over (when i was a lurker, sorry), and enjoyed them immensely.

i know this must feel awful. and i wish there were something i could do to make you feel better. and i don't know what that is. but please, please, don't quit pinto fandom over one wanker. please. the rest of us love you, and would miss you.

thank you, sweetie :) at the time it really hurt my feelings, it still does I suppose. it just seems unneccessary. even if this person legitimately thinks my writing or the other examples author's writing is terrible there's no reason to try to embarrass people or make them feel bad. It's an aspect of fandom I never liked. I guess it comes with the territory but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Anyway, thanks for saying that about my fics, I'm glad you've enjoyed them, that's the reason I write, to make people happy. I won't leave the fandom, chris and zach and all the nice people like you that are in it are reason enough to stay :) *hugs*

it was totally unnecessary. it's one thing to express an unpopular opinion, or even to be bitchy about something fandom related, but to single people out for negative opinions is just beyond the pale.

Oh geez, I'm so sorry. Don't take this to heart too much. And while I totally get how and why you feel that way, don't blame the entire fandom. Even though I enjoy the secrets mostly, maybe it really is for the best if they're being put to rest because think about it... the only kind of wank that ever happens in that fandom is in those secrets. Or the only that I can remember now.
And those peoeple who use the anonymity of the secrets to start wank are poor losers and cowards. Their opinion is worth nothing because they're too scared to say anything in person.
I really hope once you've let this settle for a day or two things will look brighter for you again.

And I'd like to read the fic because the few lines quoted didn't sound bad at all, quite intrigueing actually. :)

The truth is I just overreact to things and I was just spoiling for a reason to get more upset and this came at a bad time. I don't know what would be best for ontd_pinto. While I enjoy reading it and find it fun and lighthearted for the most part there is this aspect of it that I don't enjoy but I think that's just me and taking things too seriously.

But yeah, I am sure some people just want to start wank or maybe get a kick out of being mean-soirited, I don't know. Anyway, I'll get over it, I generally do :P

I guess something good came out of this though, I got to talk to a lot more Pinto fans which is nice :)

First I have to admit I haven't read any of your fics yet (I didn't even know you existed lol), but I found you via said post on the comm. And:

Please, please, please, don't stop writing!!! Ignore this secret, ignore the one person that tried to make fun of you. There are many many many people who read your fics, of that I'm sure, and I'm sure many many many people like what you write. You can't please everyone, I know, but don't let one person turn you away from writing.

I said it on the comm, I'll repeat it here: I admire each and every single person who is brave enough to write fic and post it, and that includes you.

So, take comfort in all the people who read your fics and comment positively on them, and ignore the ones who don't. And, if it helps, I can provide tons of plot ideas if you need them!!! ;-)

thank you so much. I think what gets to me is the sheer viciousness that comes out in fandom. It's just an aspect of it I can never get used to and being pretty oversensitive doesn't help. I won't quit writing though. And thanks again for coming to my journal and saying such nice things :)

No problem honey!
Luckily I only got one flame for a fic so far - but I've seen what happens on the kink meme with prompt/pairing/character/fic bashing, and wow, people can be really horrible. You can't please everyone, I know, but "viciousness" is right.
I'm glad you didn't decide to quit writing - fandom needs every writer it can get! ;-P And especially a talented one like you, judging from what people say about you! (I still haven't read your fics, sorry, but I promise I will! ;-) )
Keep up the good work, and if you come across more trolls/flamers, give me a holler - I have several very tall cousins! ;-)
