The fact that God created human beings and every other living thing is amazing. The most important thing I've learned from this genetics class is how complex living organisms are, and just how easily one mistake in the genetic make-up of a human being could cause death. So, I went to LA for the first time yesterday. It was pretty cool to see all the stuff you see on TV and in the movies (Hollywood & Vine, Beverly Hills, etc). Other than that, though, it was just so materialistic. I mean, EVERYONE (well, about 85%) owned highly over-priced vehicles. It was just ridiculous. So, this college hasn't taught a genetics class in almost a decade, and for some reason they thought a good 'test run' would be during the 4-week January session. I'd have to disagree. Of all the months I could possibly get sick, this is the worst. I haven't been sick since November of my senior year (about 14 months ago). I was, what I would consider, deathly ill then. My roommates had to take care of me for 3 weeks, and Christina ended up staying at the hospital with me for hours. I started my one-month intensive genetics ( Read more... )

What a week. Christmas was a little different this year. My dad left earlier this month for his 6-month deployment, so this was the first Christmas he's missed. Plus, it's a little hard to get in the 'Christmas spirit' when it's 75 degrees outside. I'm really not much into keeping journals, but since it appears this is the thing to do, I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. I'm on Christmas break right now, but that only lasts until Jan 3, when classes start again. I feel like I'm going to be in school forever.
