I had a friend who was married with kids and in order to support them, quit his teaching job and took a job with a high-powered consulting firm. Inside of 4 years he was divorcing his wife because she and the kids were getting in the way of him becoming a partner. He is now remarried to someone who works for the same company and has 2 more kids with her and still works for that company. To all the world he seems a respectable family man. To me he is the lowest piece of dirt there is.
We're the sum total of our actions, not our words. That's what I was getting at in my last post. People should not be known by the promises they make, but by the ones they try and keep. That includes whispered promises to another of "this is who I am"
