SHADOW: How Chapter One Changed from First Draft to Publication

Maggie Stiefvater asked some of her fellow authors to give readers a glimpse of our writing processes by analyzing the evolving first chapter of one of our books. I am up for it! Thanks, Rose! I looked in the garage for my box of SHADOW notes, but no luck. (I would have had to dig deeper, and it wasn't going to get done with my daughter leaving for college today.) It wasn't easy to remember what was going through my mind at the different stages, like trying to remember the stages of your kids' childhood: first tooth, walk . . . :)
