Still not well yet

Yesterday I had a checkup appointment for the leg. It turned out the fracture on the shinbone still shows no sign of healing. That means I had two options - I could wait for two months to see if it would heal on it's own, or I could have another operation scheduled asap. The doctor said there was a 25% chance of it healing in two months, and if it ( Read more... )

I'm sorry it did not heal and will take long time. I put up these tulips on my icon for you. I bought these yesterday.

BWT: We had VERY cold 2 weeks ago and then I made Calle's tomato soup. He once had the recipe in algonet news. :)

Thank you, those tulips are very pretty! I love the many different colors.

That tomato soup is delicious on cold days, I'm glad you like it!

I know it sucks, but I think you're making the right decision.

I've had two friends break wrists (wrists don't stabilize well) who have had to make the same decision.

They healed after the surgery.

The thing that clinched it was the thought of waiting two months only to get told that I have to wait another month to have the operation that I could have had already... Now at least I know what will happen and when.

When I broke my wrist I didn't have the same problem, but then they used a Hoffman's structure on it. I know that this time they originally wanted to put the plate in instead of the screws, but there was too much swelling so they simply didn't have enough space for a plate there. Now that's no longer a problem; also the big open sore is closed up nicely and won't cause skin necrosis, which was also a risk at the previous operation.

I think you did the right call. But I still feel sorry for you. Waiting, and waiting, and...

I'm sorry it's taking so long to heal. It all sounds horribly painful, too.

If I read this right, you should be skipping like a lamb again by midsummer?

Best wishes, heal well.

Big hugs from me and Mats!
We do recommend the Dragon Age Origins game for something to do at the hospital. Took me 121 hours to play through. Don't play it if laughing hurts :)
