So this is a curse?

Isn't a name just a label to distinguish one thing from something else? Why would a name need a meaning?

sentimentality?, this logic is not earth logic, unaffected, what's in a name?, jenny = generated anomaly

I don't know but it is a nice curse compared to some. I like this one.

Do the others get any less bizarre?

Nope. In fact they can get weirder.

Interesting isn't it?

Because they just do.

I don't understand why an identifier needs to have a double meaning. Obviously it just causes trouble.

How are you talking?

Only with curses and only in this City.

You don't want to know. Actually, I really don't know...It must be magic or something, yeah...

People have been blaming things on magic since I got here. Do you really believe in it?

Ahh, but make no mistake, Frauline Jenny.

Names can have great power.

Is there a reason that you know mine?

Where I come from, names are assigned so you know who you're shouting commands at. That's all.

I pay attention to thinks, Frauline Jenny. I find it useful in my business.

Then perhaps my name will be familiar, you may call me the Major.

The rank is familiar. That isn't really a name, though, is it?

Words have power, especially names. They can give a sense of identity and purpose.

What power can a word have? It isn't a command, names don't tell you who to be. You don't even use one.

Wars can stop or start because of a word. Hearts can break or mend because of them. And of course I use a name. I'm the Doctor. It's a name and a title.

It's a description. You wouldn't say the General was Cobb's a man's name, would you? The Doctor- isn't it an identifier, just like I said?

Names are said to have power. Therefore, the meaning of a name would be significant too.

What kind of power?

Let us use magic as an example in this case.

If you are aware of the name of a creature then it could be possible to control that creature. That is, if the creature can be controlled in such a manner.

Often when spirits are called upon, their names are used. Why come to a general call after all?

Are your talking about a particular race? You can't control a human only using it's name.
