Jun sat up at once upon hearing his manager’s serious tone on the phone. He found it rare that his happy-go-lucky manager carried such a tone of seriousness in his voice and thus it was a cause for alarm.

“I’m listening.” He said as he ran a hand through his natural curls.

“Mr Johnny wants you in his office by 10am. I’m on the way to your apartment.”

Jun frowned and wondered why his boss wanted to see him all of a sudden but nevertheless stood up and headed for his wardrobe.

“Got it.”

Jun knocked on the door twice and waited for Mr Johnny’s response before he entered his office. When he did, he saw Mr Johnny looking right into his eyes and motioned for him to come in. There was a lady in the office as well and when she turned back, he was taken in by surprise.

“Shizuru! Why are you here?” He asked as he walked over to Shizuru’s side. She gave a faint smile and looked at Mr Johnny who prompted Jun to take a seat right beside her.

“Matsumoto, this was just published today.”

Mr Johnny pushed the magazine towards Jun and the latter hastily grabbed the opened magazine to look at the contents.

It was a two page monochrome spread with the caption “Matsumoto Jun (26) seen with his girlfriend at Naka-Meguro??” and a photo of him entering a café hand-in-hand with a lady was seen. Though the lady’s eyes were masked off, he knew it was Shizuru. Just as he was about to talk, Mr Johnny raised his hand up to stop him from doing so.

“Both of you are to stop seeing each other for the time being till this matter dies off. I’ve already discussed with Shizuru-san and it’s decided that she will not be handling Arashi’s photoshoots for the next three months. Another colleague of hers will take over for this period of time. As for this magazine…” Mr Johnny stood up and took the magazine away from Jun. “I’ll make the necessary arrangements.”

Jun widened his eyes in disbelief at his boss’s decision and turned to face Shizuru who had her arms folded and remained silent.

“Shizuru, you actually agree to this?”

Shizuru nodded once before she took a sip of her tea that was on the table.

“Whatever.”

Jun spoke no more and stood up before he stormed out of the office.

Shizuru looked at the door and sighed. Mr Johnny took one last glance at the magazine before he threw it into his wastepaper basket and looked out of the window.

“Shizuru, are you sure you want to do this?”

“I trust him.” She spoke for the first time after Jun left.

“We shall see then.”

“I can’t believe she actually agreed to Johnny-san’s absurd request!”

Jun said angrily as he threw himself onto the sofa and folded his arms. Ohno sighed while a disinterested Nino continued jabbing his fingers on his DS. Sho pondered for a while before he sat down beside Jun and patted his shoulder.

“We’ve known Shizuru since she became our personal photographer three years back desho? She must have a reason for accepting Johnny-san’s verdict.”

“Sou dayo! I believe Shizu-chan has her own reasons too!” Aiba replied in his usual chirpy tone and squeezed in-between Sho and Jun.

“But it’s not a week we’re talking about right now. It’s a freaking three months!!!” Jun growled and stared at Aiba who was intimidated and looked at Sho who grinned and shook his head.

“You’re not Matsujun for nothing. I’m sure you can pull through this.”

Jun sighed and relaxed back onto the sofa like a deflated balloon.

“If I were the old me I would have simply grabbed Shizuru and make her marry me. That would save all the trouble.”

“Think of the consequences Jun.” Nino replied without looking up.

“You could do so.”

Everyone looked at Ohno who looked thoughtful and waited for him to continue his words.

“Maybe after that crucial three months…”

Jun was pacing up and down his living room with his cell phone on hand. A month has past by and Shizuru had never contacted him at all, not even a message. He flipped his cell phone and hit the speed dial but seconds later he slapped his phone shut.

“You’re not Matsujun for nothing. I’m sure you can pull through this.”

Sho’s words rang in his head and he growled before he threw his cell phone on his sofa.

This is seriously killing me. Majide.

Just as he was about to head for the kitchen to get a drink, the door bell rang and when he opened the door, Ohno was standing there with a small carton of beer on hand.

“I figured you might need some company.” The older man said as he passed the carton to Jun who smiled in gratitude and motioned for him to come in.

“I wonder how she is…” Jun sighed as he opened a can and drank a big mouthful. Ohno looked at the youngest member of the group and realised that it was really rare so see such a subdued side of him. Ohno then whipped out his cell phone and took a snapshot of Jun’s side profile.

“Oei… Now is not the time to take pictures…” Jun grumbled.

“For memento. I’m mailing this out to the rest.”

“OEI LEADER!!” Jun went forward in a bid to snatch Ohno’s cell phone away from him but to no avail. Ohno simply grinned and patted Jun on the shoulder.

“Yokatta. I prefer to see a genki you.”

Jun looked at Ohno who was yawning and rubbing his eyes just like a little kid.

He broke into a grin finally and opened a can of beer for Ohno.

“Arigato na leader.”

Jun immersed himself in work in order not to think about Shizuru that often. He remained talkative as usual in “Himitsu no Arashi-chan” and excelled in the games during “VS Arashi”. On a few rare days he actually popped by Aiba and Nino’s radio shows and hosted together with them.

The only time he allowed himself to think of Shizuru was when he was at home. When he had the urge to call her, he would stop himself and call the rest instead for a short chat. None of the other members complained when Jun called as after all, they knew how he felt and he’s the youngest in the group.

Time passed by fast and Jun had already lost track of time as he was busy with Arashi’s new program as well as the promotion of his special drama that was to be aired three nights in a row.

“The photoshoot will start at 10am later. We’ll be heading to the studio at 3pm for a meeting along with the rest of Arashi.”

Jun’s manager took a quick glance at his organiser before he spoke.

“So I have some free time in-between?” Jun asked as he looked out of the car window.

“The shoot is expected to end by 12pm so you will have free time till about 2pm before we drive down to the studio. Ohno-kun is around the area filming by the way.”

“I’ll give him a call later after the photoshoot.”

Jun’s manager nodded as they entered the carpark and parked the car a while later. Jun hopped out of the vehicle and pushed his specs up to his head while his manager followed behind.

“Do you need any drinks?”

“Ice-latte.” Jun replied as they entered the lift. His manager nodded as he kept his organiser into his bag and turned left when they stepped out of the lift. Jun slung his bag onto his shoulder as he made his way to the studio where the photoshoot was to be held.

When Jun entered the studio, he looked around and saw that there was no one in sight. As he walked nearer to the area, he heard some music and as he listened carefully, nostalgia hit him and he started humming along to the tune.

It was Shizuru’s favourite song by John Legend - Maxine. He could remember the song as he along with the rest of Arashi had heard it umpteen times during photoshoots where she was the photographer-in-charge.

Wait. Jun thought to himself as he placed his bag on top of the table where a laptop was. He noticed that the DSLR camera on the tripod stand had a rope-like camera strap attached to it and when he took a few steps forward to take a closer look, he was stumped.

It looked exactly like the one Shizuru has.
And due to this, he was almost 100 percent sure the camera belonged to her.

“Uso…” He widened his eyes in surprise as he raised a hand to touch the strap.

“Yo.”

A voice called out from behind and Jun’s heart literally skipped a beat when he heard it.
It was a voice he had dearly missed all these while.

When he turned back, he saw Shizuru leaning against the wall, smiling at him.

“Omae….” Jun muttered under his breath while she walked over to him.

“Where’s your manager?”

“He went over to Starbucks to help me get a drink.”

Shizuru nodded as she placed the camera lens on the table and was about to use her laptop when Jun took her hand and pulled her towards him.

“Why didn’t you tell me you’re back?”

“Don’t stand that close to me, I’m having a very bad flu…” She sniffed as she covered her mouth with her other free hand and attempted to take a few steps back but that only made his grasp on her left hand firmer.

“I don’t care. I’ve been waiting so long for this day baka.”

“I’m glad you’ve managed to restrain yourself for the past three months. If not I would have lost the bet.”

“What bet?” Jun frowned and waited for her to continue.

“On the day that gossip magazine was published, Mr Johnny gave me a call personally and called me to his office. That was when I got to know about the magazine…”

“And then?”

“He was pretty angry about it of course.”

“Nothing new.” Jun commented and Shizuru chuckled.

“But I’ve managed to set up a wager with him in the end. If I won he would allow you to do whatever you want…”

“If he won?”

“I would have to resign as JE’s personal photographer and not to see you or the rest again.”

“So that three months was a test for me?” He asked and she nodded once. “BAKA! That was a stupid bet! What if I couldn’t resist the temptation and call you or worst still, look for you?” An agitated Jun said angrily as he glared at her.

“You’re not Matsujun for nothing. I had faith in you somehow.”

Shizuru’s reply stroked a chord in him suddenly.

“Don’t tell me Sho knows about this wager you had with Johnny-san.”

“You finally realised.” She laughed and ruffled his natural curls. He rolled his eyes and gave an exaggerated sigh before he sat down on the chair.

“Come on, we had better start the photoshoot now. I need to attend the meeting later too.”

“What?”

“I’ll be the photographer-in-charge for the concert pamphlet so naturally I have to be involved in the meeting later.”

Shizuru grinned and motioned for Jun to change but he remained seated. She tugged his hand but he refused to budge. Instead, he rose up both hands to the back of his neck and removed the necklace that he was wearing.

She was surprised at what she saw.

There was a ring attached to the silver necklace.

“Since Johnny-san allows me to do whatever I want…” Jun gave an evil grin and slipped the ring onto Shizuru’s ring finger. “Yosh. It fits perfectly.” He smiled as he held her hands.

“Chotto. Do you know what you’re doing?” She whispered as her hands began to tremble.

“You were the one who said that Johnny-san will let me be…”

“But not this!! This is not a joke Matsumoto Jun.”

“Shizuru, marry me.”

Jun looked into Shizuru’s eyes as he spoke.

“But Johnny-san…”

Jun slipped his hand into his pocket to retrieve his cell phone before he made a phone call.

“Moshi moshi? Ohayo gozaimasu Johnny-san. I would like to inform you that I’m going to take Satonaka Shizuru as my wife. Hmm, yes. I understand. Yes Sir…“

Shizuru stared at Jun in disbelief as he continued the conversation with Mr Johnny on the phone. She started to imagine how Mr Johnny would react on the other line and pictured him in various moods.

“Done.” Jun said and placed his cell phone on the table.

“What?”

“He agreed on the condition that I have to front the press conference myself and the announcement has to be made to the fans on the first day of the concert tour.”

Shizuru felt as if her strength was being sucked away at once and in an instant she was on the ground. A worried Jun knelt down at once and cupped her face with both hands.

“Daijoubu?”

“I guess so…” She whispered as tears started to flow down her cheeks. Jun grinned as he wiped away her tears and tilted her head up slightly.

“You’ve yet to answer my question.”

“Hmm?”

“Will you marry me?”

“Most probably a yes.” Shizuru pondered for a while before she nodded her head and smiled. Jun broke into a huge grin before he pulled her over for a hug.

“It’s not going to be easy on you with the announcement and all.” She said worriedly as she grabbed the back of his shirt.

“At least I still have the rest with me when I announce it during concert so don’t worry…”

Jun then pulled away from the hug and was about to kiss Shizuru when she covered her mouth with both hands and shook her head.

“I have the flu rem-“

Before she could finish her words, Jun had already brought down her hands and planted a kiss onto her lips.

“I don’t care.” He licked his lips and smiled in content.

In the meantime, a few busybodies were standing at the entrance and looking at them.

“They kissed!!” Aiba exclaimed happily but that earned a smack on the head from Nino who put a finger to his own lip and asked him to be quiet. Both Ohno and Sho looked at each other briefly and shook hands.

“Mission accomplished.” Both said simultaneously.

“What mission?” Aiba flung his hands around his leader and their newscaster as he spoke.

Ohno looked at Sho who grinned and patted miracle boy’s shoulder.

“We’ll explain to you as we eat. Let’s go guys. I’m famished…”

AN: In case anyone found my OC's name utterly familiar, the name is actually taken from the movie "Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru"  where Miyazaki Aoi took on the role of Satonaka Shizuru. The rope-like camera strap is also featured in the movie. It looks like this actually.

My other two Arashi drabbles can be found here so if anyone's interested, do drop by for a quick read! =)
