I love how I'm 21 years old and I'm still being treated like a stupid teenager. And I love how everyone else around me thinks my decisions are wrong. I'm sick and tired of living up to this perfect image. Newsflash...I need to live my own life and learn from my own mistakes. Not that I'm making them on purpose but cut me some slack if for once ( Read more... )

I'm sorry you are having such a tough time with people. It is difficult sometimes when people feel the need to tell you how to run your life. But ultimately, it isn't up to them, any more than it is up to you. It is good to be prudent with what you share, but don't cut everyone off always, because you need other people, annoying habits and all. Give it time, because like it or not, you are closer to your teen years than away from it. I'm 23 and I still feel like I'm 16, for all that I don't know what to do, or I get it wrong. The only way that changes is time. And distance helps. People can't run ragged over me when I am 3000 miles away. But even if you don't have that luxury, you can go to that place inside you, like your brother does I'd wager, adn be alone in the presence of God, where approval is not predicated on you doing things according to some rules or someone's idea of what is right ( ... )

Hopefully this will make you laugh - I went to lunch today with my mom and one of her friends. Her friend was telling us that she was going home to visit her parents this upcoming week and wasn't looking forward to is because they still treat her like a kid - she said she knows she's gonna have to ask to borrow their car (she's flying in and not renting a car) and then tell them where she's going and when she'll be back and all that stuff.

The funny part ... she's in her late 40's.

I don't know how that applies to you at all, except to show you that age has nothing to do with how people act, and you just have to sometimes ignore or not worry about who says what when they don't understand the situation.

Um ... yeah. That's actually all I've got.

But it's good to read your post from this morning and see that you're feeling better then you were here.
