Your neighbour's house honestly burned down??? That's terrible! And the worst part is that I can't stop from being amused.

I would agree with you on most of the above...although why you are doing this I think I may have missed. But hey. I miss you.

don't know if you know about this but the dandy warhols were in a documentary. i found an article on it.. but will prob never get to see as good old singapore is far too boring to do that shit...

"Ondi Timoner's new film DiG! (Palm Pictures) sets out to document the
rising careers of two West Coast alternative rock bands, the Brian
Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols. Things go consistently,
relentlessly wrong, and instead of an inspiring making-of-the-band
film, Timoner gives us a chronicle of misguided aspirations and
failure. The movie has become a kind of highway-safety film for the
rock community-bootleg copies were said to be a precious commodity on
tour buses this summer."

hmmm.

Well. Its odd. There's plenty of stuff to do if you look for it, but even then its in limited supply, and mostly the same kind of things. But havign said that things have started to change in the last five years, and i do love singapore dearly: "this is my country, this is my land, this is my future, this is my LIFE!" hehehe propaganda songs they play every national day. So good.

NB. you know that its illegal to join amnesty international here? sigh.

damn. well i suppose that those pesky human rights organizations just don't know better than the government, right? in some senses, they do the same thing here, but unofficially; see abu ghraib as the tip of an iceberg.

and the whole propaganda thing definitely exists everywhere. i remember back in primary school we had this activity in history class for independance day. we had to essentially choose sides in the revolutionary war with britain and be either a "son of liberty" (a revolutionary) or a "tory" (a loyalist). being the annoying little 9 year old, i chose "tory", citing the fact that it was doubtful that the rebels could have taken on the most powerful army in the world. apparently i was the only kid throughout the entire career of my 60 year old teacher who chose the opposing side. my parents got a call the same night and they had some angry words with the school administrator talking about "indoctrination" and "propaganda". i thought that was funny.

doesn't singapore censor a lot of media, too? and hang people for drug
