The Alison Turkus/Matt Ramarge wedding has taken over life here. I just got back from lunch at a really nice park with all the family members, and all my brothers and sisters were together for the first time in a long while, which was awesome. i'm at work, and i just watched the space shuttle take off on my boss's computer (mine doesn't have speakers). it's amazing that we (humans) can do that. we just took a group of people and shot them off the earth, and we know where they're going, and we know they're coming back ( Read more... )

yesterday sarah and i went to new york with my boss, vonda, and her husband, wes, who is a painter, and some of his students (adults). we went to chelsea to look at some art galleries. some of the art was really awesome and wes knew a ton about the area and some of the artists, which was great. there was a collection of probably 75 photographs ( ( Read more... )

i just got home from visiting caymaniangirl in the cayman islands. she was lovely and it was beautiful. there are still effects of hurricane ivan (from september) visible everywhere, like shells of structures or ads for cars for sale that say "no flood damage" or a big section of her former roof in a tree in her backyard, but for the most part it seems like ( Read more... )
