my brother fred got married in sweden on july 1st. his wife, erica, is awesome, and the ceremony and reception were both touching and fun. everything in sweden was really nice and really beautiful and the sun was out for 20 hours every day, and i got to spend a lot of time with my family and especially my siblings ( Read more... )

in january i went to the world social forum (foro social mundial) in caracas, venezuela, with 12 other students, two professors, and my boss, alison, from the center for peace and global citizenship. the students stayed in the youth camp, which was basically a tent city in a park in the city. we have these solar powered lights on the steps down to my house, and they're supposed to turn on when it gets dark. right now it is dusk and they're all flashing every second or so but not all at the same time and it's beautiful. ...they just stopped, but they're all off now. maybe it got lighter ( Read more... )

i went to a few concerts this semester. the weezer/foo fighters show was awesome despite our terrible seats. dave grohl running around and talking (cursing) a lot and screaming the whole time. queens of the stone age/nine inch nails was incredible. qotsa played really hard and the nin light/video show was probably the coolest i've seen. and i hadn' ( Read more... )
