I survived finals and am 98% packed, going to have to mail my sleeping bag home.  The past few days have been weird with people flooding out of here.  I’m moving out of my apartment tonight, taking a sherut to the airport with my roommate and 4 other people, hopefully the driver will be able to deal with all of our bags ( Read more... )

It's almost midnight, 28/83 degrees out, and salsa music is wafting in from a dance class in the basement of my building. Its amazing and beautiful and I'm happy =) The kfar construction is winding down, we now have grass and trees outside!

It’s Lag B’omer, the whole country is on fire tonight, it’s insane. I thought they were joking when they told me that it would be like this. I was in Ashdod for the weekend (for birthrighters from last summer I was at Elad’s house) and there were fires all over the city and all over the beach and these aren’t tiny fires either, they are big tall ( Read more... )

Sea to Sea wasn’t as much of a sea to sea hike as we were expecting but it turned out enjoyable. The hikes the first two days were pretty but easy and we stopped A LOT. I had an odd experience today, through reading Ynet, an Israeli internet news source; I found out that the Seattle federation office had reopened. I read the Seattle Times and PI websites everyday from her but somehow I managed to miss that. It was so odd to be reading familiar names and seeing quotes from Komo and King. Last Thursday it snowed in Jerusalem and today it is beautiful and feels like spring. I went to Akko with a friend last weekend. We took the train from Tel Aviv to Akko and it was a gorgeous ride. Being in the old city doesn’t feel like Israel, it feels like you have left to a Muslim country. It’s small and pretty but not a ton to do especially ( Read more... )

There is a Purim party going on downstairs in the courtyard between my building and another one, it’s sort of funny. I’m trying to write an autobiography for my Hebrew teacher and green stage lights keep flashing through my window…good thing I like Purim, if only the music wasn’t shaking my walls like Jeffrey’s drum set used to.

Yesterday I skipped my last class and headed to Tel Aviv to see a play. Jerusalem decided it would have a storm and bad traffic at once so it took us half an hour to drive out of the bus bay and get around the corner. When I got to Tel Aviv, my cousin picked me up. Tonight I decided to wash my sheets and a few random articles of clothing. The laundry facility for our dorm complex is in my building but the building is designed so you can only take the stairs to the first floor and to get to the basement you have to go outside or take the elevator.
