You are adorable. When you said "confess" I assumed that you'd done something wrong but no! You are just confessing to having hopes for money to come your way.

Here is my confession: We owed money last year. And then we calculated the taxes wrong and paid the govt back TOO MUCH money. And then they gave us a refund check. So last year we both had to pay taxes and got a refund. oops.

I owed a crapton of money last year, which was really traumatic for me (had to borrow from my mother....)

I don't mind owing a couple hundred, but yeah, once it becomes a big sum then it's a major hurt.

I always like to get a refund back. I just checked to see what interest has accrued on the (welcome) refund I received this year: $17. I don't have a problem letting the govt hold my money for that.

If I actually get a refund, I may become a convert -- I've never gotten any significant money back.
