The trap of waiting. Of thinking that all I have to do is wait and things will get better. That until that indeterminate point, all I can do is sit and try to distract myself.
I don't want to do that. Life is potentially amazing. It IS amazing and continues to be whether I choose to participate or not.
So this won’t really make any sense unless I explain this part up front: I was diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder and I’ve transitioned and live as a woman. My legal name is Jessica Morrissey, I’ve been on hormone therapy for about a year, and very few people who know me now know me in any other context. Maybe I’ll come back to that later.
So, the trans health conference in conjunction with some stuff I've read recently about pride in being transsexual has me thinking. I'm not proud of being transsexual as that I didn't really DO anything to be transsexual. Hmmm... well... I've been busy. Today is my first day back to work for about a week and a half. I transitioned at work, it was absolutely no big deal at all (today is my first day back since the disclosure meeting with my department). I went to trans health in Philly which was teh awesome. So... I introduced Natalie and Dre. So it was Dre, her boyfriend Dave, Natalie, and I. We ended up seeing Be Kind Rewind which Natalie wanted to see but Dre and Dave kind of wanted to see Charlie Barlett. Well... the movie ended up being pretty bad. Or more accurately, Dre and Dave thought it was really bad. I thought it was mildly amusing
