Has anyone had personal experience growing a fig tree in this area? What cultivar did you grow? How were your yields?

I'd really like to put a fig into the yard, but there are a lot of varieties to choose from and I'm not sure if it would be better to grow directly in the ground or put it in a pot and haul it inside every winter....

We would like to have a small vegetable garden this year, as we lay down the first stages of re-landscaping the yard over the next few years. I made a list from Territorial of things I would like to plant a little of and it is a lot more seed that we will need for a small garden. We went and saw The Wolfman at a movie theater that serves food too. Dinner and a movie all at once. The movie was disappointing, but the burger was decent.

I really like date nights, though.

For dinner, I am making a spinach salad with sliced pears, walnuts, and crumbled feta drizzled with fig balsamic cream (balsamic reduction... mmmm....). Followed by Spinach & ricotta stuffed pasta shells with generous amounts of parmesan and mozerella. And the aforementioned poached pears for essert, with a selection of Belgian chocolates.Mmmm

Poaching peasr in wine for dessert tonight. I've wanted to do this for years, it is so simple, but have never gotten to it.

I'm excited to see how it turns out.

We went to the PNW Flower & Garden show on Sunday. And had crepes at the creperie outside the convention center. mmmm, yummy crepes. OOoohhh lovely display gardens ( Read more... )

Tonight: Baking cookies. Drinking tea. Ordering new light fixtures.
Tomorrow: Haul away old appliances and take Moira to the park.
Sunday: PNW Flower & Garden Show and bathroom remodeling.
