What happens to Aaron again? Kate ends up raising him?

I actually looked this up last night because I couldn't remember. Kate takes Aaron off the island and raises him for a few years then gives him to Carol Littleton, Claire's mom. At the end of the show, Claire gets off the island. It's assumed that she got reunited with Aaron but the last we see him is with Claire's mom.
