Random thought of the day, as I was perusing a site that described a birth defect I hadn't encountered before. If a person has a known genetic defect, or is a known carrier of one, do they have any obligation at all to not have children? Last week was the annual Scone Marathon, wherein I make up to a half dozen batches of scones in various flavors, most of which go to the office Holiday Potluck - for a couple hours of time and relatively minimal ingredients, I get to eat lots of other people's food. I get a Knitter's Page-a-Day calendar thingie sent to my email every day. Usually it's just little snide asides, all the stuff knitters think but don't generally say out loud - you can never have enough yarn, how can your partner complain about how many needles you have, then go get just *one* more screwdriver, that sort of thing.
