OMG! This is such a loving tribute to Star Trek, to Kirk and Spock's Star Trek, that is, that I almost have no words to express my admiration. The editing is a wonder, of course, but it's mostly the sensibility of the series that you captured, the sense of family which lent the crew the strength to meet the challenges of the unknown, and of the sheer joy of working together, whether on the set or off, that touched me to the heart. This was what made J.J. Abram's movie so mighty, the recapturing of the spirit of the Enterprise. I loved your juxtaposition of the old with the new, and the inclusion of the behind-the-camera crew (lol - Damon Lindelof at 3.49!) and the out-takes, the movies and the comics. The tribute to the original Pike. As if there wasn't a single precious frame you could exclude ( ... )

Long comment makes me happy. Comments like this are why I make videos.

I threw a lot of heart behind this vid being a fanboy ever since the days TNG was on my screen every evening. I'd already made a cracky TOS video and a more serious XI video but I wanted to make a combined one with focus on community and camaraderie.

I wasn't sure about the colouring, I was saturating/desaturating all but one colour (trying to make the tunic colour stand out) but some lighting conditions in TOS didn't allow it in all shots. But if someone likes it, I suceeded!

The shots with the spheres are actually planets with a bunch of nebulas surrounding them. It's a bit difficult to distinguish them since they have footage covering them but I took inspiration from the end credits of the movie. Not as spectacular but good enough for me in After Effects. :D

Live long and prosper yourself!

omgosh I didn't connect this right away, but the fact that you "tweaked" the end credit idea by embedding the images inside - and those images I see now are from outtake reels - this makes it your own. *sigh* It's vids like these that made me decide to try vidding myself.

Fantastic job! What I liked the most was the scene with the moons/spheres. It was beautifully done. As always, perfect editing:-)

Thanks. Yeah, I wanted to make that interlude in the song as special as possible so I spent a lot of time in After Effects building it up.

Wow, this totally blew me away. Amazing! I love that it's not just an outpouring of love for these characters, but also a fannish history -- about the show itself, the people involved in the making of it, and about us, the people who love the universe of Trek.

Besides the warm fuzzies, I'm just stunned by the technical prowess. It's obvious that you put a lot of work and thought into the making.

Thanks so much for sharing! I'm going to have to watch this vid over and over to really savor its full potential. That, to me, signifies the best kind of fannish engagement.
