This post was originally supposed to be a response to a friend of a friend on Facebook, but it was too long to post there. Start by reading the graphic, so that what I've posted beside it will make more sense in context.

Brilliant.

I'd be interested to see what her response is to all this.

If it's anything like the countless arguments I've had with conservatives in the past, I'll likely be accused of the same tactic wherein blaming Bush for everything doesn't wash because it's all on Obama now, irrespective to facts. With tea party people, I usually get what amounts to "OH FINE, USE WORDS!"

I don't expect to be surprised by logical consideration as I think that's asking way too much of modern conservatives loyal to the GOP, and I'm not out to change anyone's mind. That's the great thing about facts - they're true whether one believes them or not.

The thread is here, in case he does reply (link shortened): http://on.fb.me/oisFQT

Very well said. I would hasten to add that the real Republican strategy at present, as plainly laid out by someone who spent almost 30 years as a GOP staffer, is to be as obstructionist as possible in order to keep the economy in the dumps through the next election, and if necessary through 2016, while also steadily eroding the faith of the American people in their government. Basically, they want two types of citizens: those who don't care enough to vote because they've lost faith in the process, and those who are willing to vote based purely on emotion and misinformation. The sad and terrifying thing is that they seem to be succeeding in grand fashion.

That article was fantastic, I read it either yesterday or the day before, I cannot remember. Excellent points all around, and I agree.

Very well said. The Republican/Tea Party base is just downright delusional. Like you said, corporations are raking in record earnings. Cutting their taxes when they're already operating at very high profit margins, like they are, will do nothing but further increase those margins and benefit shareholders. It will not create jobs. Cutting corporate taxes could, theoretically, create jobs in cases where profit margins are near or below zero. We are nowhere close to this ( ... )

If you'll recall the last conversation you and I had about our complete lack of faith in Congress' ability to do anything but fuck it all up even worse, I think it is safe to say that my view has only deepened and been reaffirmed. It's going to get much worse, and what's truly fucked up is that I really just don't care anymore. I'm sick of being lied to, I'm sick of feeling demoralized by working my ass off to make things better for little to no impact, and frankly I don't have the energy to care. What would be the point anyway?

I didn't expect that, but it sure is a fine thing for him to write. Thanks, brother!

Wil Wheaton is the first - and thus far, only - "celebrity" that I follow on G+. He really nails his shit, most of the time.
