I've always wanted to try bikram.. How is it in comparison to regular ol' ashtanga? Is there more of a payoff? I got a 1 month pass to a yoga studio here that offers bikram, so I might give it a whirl. I'm just afraid of passing out?

I've experienced benefits from Bikram that I never got from other yoga, or any other exercise for that matter... within a month of practicing a minimum of 5 days a week, I had blackheads that I've had since I was 12 disappear, I lost all love-handley business, my lung capacity quadrupled, I stopped getting cold stores, my digestion became awesome, and I started noticing some significant ab definition that I couldn't even get when I was a 7 day a week gym rat. I've been 5-7 days a week for exactly a year, and I haven't gotten sick once (I used to spend each and every winter with bronchitis and a face covered cold sores). I also only need 5 hours of sleep a night, when I used to sleep 10 or more if I didn't have an alarm.

The heat and the sequence work wonders.. If the studio offers Bikram and other stuff, they're not offering Bikram. Bikram is only offered in dedicated, exclusive studios. If its just hot yoga, give it a shot, but do check out actual, copywrited Bikram at some point. It surprisingly changed my life.

Ah okay! I double-checked and its just "hot yoga". Good to know there are differences!
That sounds REALLY amazing. There's an actual, bona-fide Bikram studio not too far from me, so I'll give it a whirl! Thanks! :)
