So uh, that neck thing that made my life a living hell all summer?  It just stopped.  The same thing happened last year- right around spring things got brutal and continued through summer.  Neck Pain Crisis 2011 was met with an onslaught of PT, acupuncture, massage, and exercises that I dutifully performed several times daily.  It was a big drain ( Read more... )

I'm so glad it's better! Chronic pain is no joke...especially when it's neck or back pain. I have no idea why it would have gotten better except to say that maybe with time the nerve became less inflamed or even shifted from where it was being pinched by your vertebrae. Still! That's freaking awesome!

The thing that worries me is that it followed the same timeline of getting bad and getting better in both 2011 and 2012. Its cool that I feel like a normal person from September through March, but is April through August always going to be hell? I'd officially be the first person I've ever met to have a summer seasonal chronic pain disorder.

So glad you're feeling better right now, but that is totally weird and discomfiting that you now recognize this pattern. Maybe two years is enough? Maybe it's gone for good? Maybe you can strap cold compresses to yourself for the entirety of next summer??
