The first leg of our ten-day October holiday took place in Paris. I have to admit I was a little nervous about travelling there, as I spoke so little French I had to ask Kate how to say "thank you" and "please" while on the train to get there. I also heard it is horribly expensive, and I was looking so forward to reaching England that I wasn't
