I imagine the reason you haven't had a big party before now is because it would have been in your own house. Bad idea. I'm sure there are Oedipal issues involved as well.

I feel the same way about kissing men. As a teenager, I used to kiss my male friends regularly, but I found the prickliness of one friend who always had a five o' clock shadow off-putting.

I can't believe you got rid of the Twin Peaks soundtrack.

I'm reading some Mohanty too. Grad school is, like, so original.

I think your statement about house parties is well-assessed. now i don't have to feel like such a weiner!

I had no idea you smooched your old buddies regularly!

getting rid of twin peaks was a tough one: the person who won the cd is from China and I don't think she had any idea about the cult-ure surrounding twin peaks. I wonder if this makes the passing on of the sound track for better or worse.

what did u think of

Believe it or not (you probably will), I was talking about the rise and fall of theorists with a professor today. His tip was that Badiou is the horse to bet on. We should start a theory who's hot and who's not list.

Did you read about the action figures in the most recent issue of Peer Review. I love getting a magazine called "Peer Review." Almost as much as I used to love getting a magazine called "En Passant" after I played in a chess tournament. It came the same week as Hustler.

I've only read excerpts of Mohanty (from Literary Theory and the Claims of History), but I dug the little I read. I might check out the rest of the book for an essay I'm working on.

I think getting rid of the Twin Peaks soundrack was justified if it meant sending David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti on a surreal cultural mission.

My heart flies with the nightingale.
