Me!

Yes its selfish but selfishness is one of the few thing the Church of Satan got right-- one of their beliefs is that there is no such thing as a selfless act...if you give $5 to a homeless man you do it because you want him to have it for whatever reason. the point is YOU want him to have it...I you have some one killed its because YOU want him dead..etc, etc

Thats why I look after my friends, girlfriends, etc so much.....it makes me happy to see my loved ones safe and happy!

So you could take my first answer or my loved ones as an answer depending which best answers your question.

right: "Shit, that was a huge earthquake, and by the looks it was in the middle of the ocean near indonesia, we'd better warn them and all the surrounding countries"

wrong: "Shit that was a huge earthquake, hope the guy closer to the affected area picked up on it and can warn people in time"

right: 20,000 people have died in the resulting tsunami and it is an international tragedy

wrong: 6 Australians have died in the tsunami caused by the earthquakes. Oh, and some indonesians, indians and sri lankans are dead, but how tragic that our 6 Australians have died.

I hold nothing true. My reality changes every day, it rewrites itself quicker than any belief I can imprint. In fact, I never want any beliefs. If they are right, I will stop searching. If they are wrong, I'm stuck with something that is wrong. I will fight/lie/kill/die for it.

I like to take Robert Anton Wilsons approach to things. There are always maybe's, never is'. As soon as I say there 'is' a god, or there 'is' not better system that communism, people will fight either for or against that belief. If I say there 'may be' a god, or communism might possibly be better than totalitarianism, people will be able to relate to me better no matter what side they're on.

In other words, I don't believe everything you say, I don't believe everything my favourite author/prophet/god/friend/cat says, I don't belive everything I belive. It's a lot easier to deal with when I have something wrong.

And since when did you get all contemplative?

The things I know to be true are
- molly smells like a dog
- Water is wet
and
- what goes up must come down

Sacred on the other hand....
Family and friendship and because I'm a romantic at heart, love.

I know the difference between right and wrong but sometimes what is right for me is wrong for everyone else.... you just have to use your judgement

Whats eating at you my sweet?

Do you know the difference between right and wrong?

No. Infact, I'm not even sure there is such a thing as 'right' or 'wrong'. On the other hand, there are things that seem right/wrong to me (with as much objectivity as I can muster), so I figure all I can really do is try and guestimate what is 'right' or 'wrong' and then try to do what is right.

I ask this question not in the simplest form but in the hope to gage what exactly is happening in this world today. I question the values and morals of most people and this makes me sad.I'm of the opinion that people generally try and do what they think is right. I just think we also often disagree with what is right or wrong in any given situation, and a good portion of the time we don't get the opportunity to plan/think out our response as well as we'd like ( ... )

as an addendum to the 5 vs. 50 bit...

and what gives you the right to choose?

But if you're in the place where the decision has to be made, at the time it's got to be made, and feel you're qualified to make the choice... then what gives you the right to choose not to make the choice?

Adding to what you said about right and wrong:

Theres your views of right and wrong, and society's views on it:

Say you (bernie), are in love with your brother. You want to marry him. Society frowns on this a great deal, so much its outlawed and all your freinds/family will pretty much disown you because its 'wrong'.

If you were living in Egypt circa 3100 - 1000ish BC, not only would it be in your best interests to marry your brother, but foolish of you not to (Keep the bloodline pure and all that).

Overlooking the genetic problem here, the same senario 3000 years apart has done a total 180º on what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'.
