Looks like the Houston area totally dodged a bullet this time. The hurricane looks to be moving even further east than expected and may actually make landfall in Lousianna as a Category 3. Just got a call from Chris and it looks like he is okay. He left at 5 o'clock yesterday evening and got to Dallas at 5 this morning. Not too bad for making it in 12 hours. He took 290 to 6 and then came in to Dalls via 35. With current projections for the 45N Dallas trip at anywhere between 16-24 hours it appears he made a wise decision ( Read more... )

Current projections are putting the hurricane landfall at 60 miles east of Galveston, not the direct hit Houston was expecting. If it comes ashore in Port Arthur (or even further east is possible) Houston could be spared billions in damages and probably save countless lives, because it does not look like those people will be getting off the ( Read more... )

Pray for these people on the roadway. They told all these people to evacuate and there is simply not enough road/gas stations to accommodate. Even in directions where they have both sides of the highway going outbound it is still a parking lot. Cars are overheating. People are running out of gas with no where to fill up. ABC13 says that if Rita hits the Galveston coast as a Cat 4 (which is what looks like will happen) that South Houston will see 100+ mph winds and winds up to 74 mph all the way to Huntsville (which is about 40 miles north of my house).
