Actually, my ticket was CHEAP. I paid $900 dollars for it, which is a REALLY good price considering how far away it is. You should go. It's supposed to be even more jaw-droppingly beautiful in September through December, which are their summer months. Ticket prices are dropping all the time, so you might get an even better deal.

This gal I met in Australia basically said I could crash on her floor if I visited, but the plane ticket was $2000. I was hoping you had some secret backdoor ninja way of getting cheap tickets to the other side of the world.

Cheaptickets.com, dude. It's the way of the future. Granted, I did go during a winter month, which MIGHT have made a difference, but if you reserve it at least a few months in advance, it'll be mas cheaper than that.
