I'm sure you'll enjoy it, Jen, and you get the bonus of meeting Rai! So relax and have a good time, and let us know what you think, 'cause I'm not sick of TDK babble at all. ;)
I did! I thought it was very complicated and oddly beautiful in its bleakness. I found it much more uplifting than many people did, but I had heard it was DARK DARK OMG DARK so many times I thought it would be...you know...dark. I mean, Harvey turning is...hardly a surprise, right? Neither was Rachel dying, so...the darkness didn't exceed my expectations, and there was a lot of hope there too.
It was very complicated, and it was darker than any of the other Batman movies, that's for sure. But those of us familiar with recent story lines in the Batman comics know that this is par for the course. This is how Batman is supposed to be. A lot of people think of Adam West or even the Joel Schumacher movies, and Batman isn't that campy (at least not anymore).
I loved the effect on Two Face. I was like "Yes! That's how he's supposed to look! He's not supposed to look like he has a purple rash!"
And the Joker... absolutely brilliant if you ask me. Jack Nicholson's Joker was so different, but this is how I've always envisioned the Joker. A twisted, homicidal maniac with no morals or reservations.

Yes, exactly! arch_schatten and I were whining about how people keep saying it's "really dark." Do these people read the canon books? They're at least this dark, if not darker...
Yeah, the Two-Face effect was mesmerizingly effective. I couldn't tear my eyes from it. And the Joker...I usually like my Joker more gleedful at some level, but this was a totally compelling, terrifying take on him. It was awesome. It's hard for me to say if I preferred to the "Begins" yet, in part because "Begins" made a really big impression on me and I haven't really had time to fully process this one yet. It was...impressive.
Is it bad for me to wish that TDK will blow you away so it will inspire more fics from you from Nolan's 'verse? ;)
In any case, have fun (I'm sure you will), and will wait until you're coherent enough to post and will most likely squee together with you. There isn't that many people I know who have not seen it yet, so fresh new input is always interesting!
It blew me away! And there will probably be fic sometime! I have an itch to write a series in which Superman returns from Krypton after this movie rather than the last one and has to figure out the mystery of the Batman... :) Maybe also having to deal with Bruce Wayne along the way...
heheheh My "I knew it" should be a reply not a comment...sleep deprived because my niece don´t want to go to bed yet... that´s my excuse and I´m sticking with it^^;
Hehehe, I loved your email so much! Yes, please do post it and feel free to quote my responses if you like, although they don't add a whole lot to your wonderful analysis...

Definitely my favorite Batman movie so far.
